I woke up one day back in 1993 and realized it had been a while since I had written a love song to my wife. We had two young children and I wanted to show her my appreciation and tell her how much I still love her. True Love is the result.
Ok, ok, so What We Make It is another, “Tim's philosophy on life songs”, that probably doesn't really fit the collection. I wrote this back in 1980 at a time when I was feeling down to cheer myself up. It took me about six months to write it, about six months to learn how to play it and then about six months to be able to play it and sing it at the same time. It's one of my favorites.
She Is His Queen is about how the relationship between a husband and wife changes and what happens when you start to see the light at the end of the child rearing tunnel. Written earlier this year in a rare song explosion, this particular version is a one-take (as opposed to multi-track) recording. I left all the warts and pops and clicks in there because I really like the energy in the recording.

Back in 1979, when I was engaged to be married I wrote As In Love about how loving another person changes you. How love makes you more like the person you love and how you are reflected in the person you love. This is the oldest recording - recorded for, and played at, our wedding.
The oldest song that I still play is Hand That Fits The Glove. Written in 1969, this sweet, naïve notion of love stands up to the test of time. This particular version was recorded in the mid 90's.
I wrote Beautiful Day after hearing a person with Alzheimer's describe their descent into oblivion. This song proposes an answer to the question of when is there more dementia than person left and when is it time to call it quits.
So, there you have it - sixteen songs written over a 35 year period that describe my experiences and philosophies about families and life. I hope you enjoy them and find them amusing, maybe even enlightening.
