This next song doesn't really belong in the collection other than it
reflects my general philosophy, and I am, after all, a member of my
family. I wrote Man of Leisure while in college in Frostburg,
Maryland around 1975. I recently rediscovered the song and have just
recorded it on my new digital recording setup. I hope you like it.
If you don't, well I don't really care…
Written in 1980 and recorded in 1981 Lazy Love is a
love song dedicated to my wife, who by the way, is singing the alto
harmony part in the chorus. This song was recorded at Bias Studios
in Springfield, Virginia.
Originally written as a blessing for Ezra Newkirk in 1977,
Little Eyes applies to all little people and some big ones as
well. I'm told families are full of big and little people;
consequently, the song appears in this collection |
Written to my son as a sort of advanced lesson in
the facts of life, No, Means No! is good advice for any guy
in love with a girl, or man in love with a woman, or bull aardvark
in love with a cow aardvark. You get the idea.
William Wayne Dyke (aka Windy Wayne), w ho
introduced me to salted beer and phrenology when I was only four
years old, was my great-grandfather. Though I only knew him for a
short while, this Man That Nobody Owned made a big impression
on me. I wrote this song while in college.
I never knew my mother's mother because she died well before I was
born. Alma Mae is about how actions that we take can have
lasting and unforeseen effects on those who love. I recently wrote
this song to remind people to think carefully before they act
selfishly. |
